I was privileged to have known Pat for many years. Although Pat’s expertise was in latent prints and mine in QD, footwear and tire evidence, we had a great deal in common, both working years for law enforcement, teaching classes, publishing, and eventually years in private forensic work. I worked with Pat on the South African Fred Van Der Vyver case which gave me the opportunity to witness firsthand his brilliance and compassion in the latent print field as well as the respect he earned amongst his clients and other examiners. His work has not only only impacted the past but will have a great impact on the future.  My sincere condolences to his family.
